A 33-year-old bricklayer, Odede Afeez, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, So-Safe Corps, over alleged burglary and theft of an aluminium window in the Oluomo area of Koko, Atan-Ota.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued by the State Commander of the Corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi. The statement said the suspect was arrested on September 21, 2026, at about 3:30pm, following a distress call received by the Atan-Ota Area Command.
According to the statement, the distress call was received by the Area Commander, ACC Job Adeniji, after a report that a man had been caught removing windows from a building around the Oluomo area of Koko, Atan-Ota.
The Area Commander subsequently deployed officers to the location to verify the report and respond to the situation.
On arrival, the operatives reportedly found Afeez in possession of an aluminium casement window and a knife. He was immediately arrested and taken to the Atan-Ota Area Command for interrogation.
During preliminary questioning, the suspect identified himself as a bricklayer residing at Koko Ebiye, Atan-Ota, where he said he had lived for more than one month.
The Corps said the suspect confessed to removing the aluminium window from the building. He reportedly told investigators that it was the third time he had engaged in such an activity.
Afeez allegedly further disclosed that he had previously removed another aluminium window and sold it to a scrap dealer for ₦18,000.
He also told the operatives that he previously lived at Iwoye, along Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area, before relocating to Atan-Ota.
Items reportedly recovered from him included one aluminium casement window, one knife and pumping-machine wires.
Following preliminary investigation, the suspect and the recovered exhibits were transferred to the Divisional Police Command, Atan-Ota, for further investigation.
Ganzallo commended the officers of the Atan-Ota Area Command for their prompt response and professionalism, saying the arrest demonstrated the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property.
He also reiterated the Corps’ resolve to sustain intelligence-led operations and collaboration with other security agencies in tackling burglary, vandalism and other criminal activities across Ogun State.
The commander urged residents and community leaders to remain vigilant, properly secure their properties and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to security agencies.
