The Edo State Police Command has arrested a man, Adedeji Benjamin, for allegedly using a dummy gun to rob, abduct and rape women in Benin City.
The arrest followed a report by a woman who alleged that she was abducted by two men in the Ihama area of Benin City and taken to Tembogha, where she was allegedly raped and robbed at gunpoint.
A statement by the police spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said the report prompted an investigation that led to the arrest of one of the suspects.
The police reportedly recovered a toy gun allegedly used in the commission of the crime, alongside a Lexus Jeep, as exhibits.
According to the statement, Benjamin has confessed to the alleged offences and will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The command said efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing accomplice.
The police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
