The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old suspected cultist, Okiki Muhammed Adewusi, and recovered two locally made pistols, three live cartridges and a battle axe in separate intelligence-led operations in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, stating that operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Squad, Base 7, Abule Iroko, Sango-Ota, arrested the suspect, popularly known as Baba Obo, in the Ore area of Atan on Monday, October 26, 2026.

According to the statement, the arrest, which occurred at about 8.00 p.m., followed credible intelligence received by the operatives.

Babaseyi said a search of the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of a locally made pistol and three live cartridges.

He added that preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect allegedly admitted to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity.

The police spokesman said a follow-up operation conducted on Tuesday, October 27, led to the recovery of another locally made pistol and a battle axe at a separate location.

He explained that the second operation was carried out at about 6.30 a.m. following information obtained from the arrested suspect.

According to him, the recovered items had been secured as exhibits, while investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.

The command also said efforts were being intensified to apprehend other persons suspected of involvement in the alleged criminal activities and recover additional weapons.

The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their vigilance, professionalism and effective use of intelligence in the operations.

Ojajuni reaffirmed the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks, disrupting cult-related activities and curbing the illegal possession of firearms across the state.

He urged residents to provide timely and credible information about suspected criminal activities, assuring them that the command would continue to act on actionable intelligence to protect lives and property.
