Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Gas Marketing Limited and Shell Nigeria Gas Limited for their commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and their significant contributions to community development.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, made this known during the commissioning of the rehabilitated 4.5-kilometer Oju-Ore/Ilogbo Road in Ado-Odo/Ota, executed by the two companies.

He described the project as more than just a road construction, emphasizing its role in improving lives and strengthening communities.

“This road project reflects the growing confidence in our administration and is a strong example of how collaboration with the private sector can drive meaningful and sustained progress in our state,” Abiodun stated.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses through effective public-private partnerships, stressing that initiatives like this highlight the positive impact of collaboration in delivering sustainable infrastructure.

“Our administration continues to prioritize projects that bring lasting value to our communities across Ogun State. We have launched and completed numerous road projects to improve connectivity and enhance the quality of life of our citizens,” he added.

Abiodun urged corporate organizations and individuals to emulate NNPC and Shell Nigeria Gas Limited in fulfilling their Corporate Social Responsibility, assuring that the investment would bring immediate benefits to Ota, Ilogbo, and surrounding communities, while also contributing to the broader economic growth of the state.

The Managing Director of NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML), Igwe Ezenla, represented by the Executive Director of Gas Distribution, Engr. Lawrence Chukwu, noted that NNPC belongs to all Nigerians, making it imperative to address the needs of host communities.

“This project was fully funded by NGML as part of our commitment to giving back to the communities we operate in. Ogun State is not an exception,” he said.

He also commended Governor Abiodun for his administration’s developmental strides, describing Ogun State as a valuable partner of NNPCL, while appreciating the residents of Ota for their cooperation and peaceful conduct during the road construction.

Similarly, the Managing Director of Shell Nigeria, Mr. Ralph Gbobo, applauded the Ogun State Government for providing the enabling environment for companies to give back to their host communities.

“The visionary leadership in Ogun State has facilitated even development across the state. The handing over of the newly constructed 4.5km Oju-Ore/Ilogbo Road will not only ease movement but also enhance socioeconomic activities, improve connectivity, open new pathways for trade, and foster social interactions among communities,” Gbobo stated.

The Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof.) Abdulkabir Obalanlege, represented by the Aro of Ota, High Chief Ezekiel Fadipe, appreciated Shell and NNPCL for the road construction, describing it as a significant step toward economic growth, not only in Ota but across Ogun State.

A community representative, Mr. Francis Adeoti, also expressed gratitude, stating, “This road will undoubtedly boost economic activities in this area and improve the overall well-being of our people.”
