Abeokuta, the capital city of Ogun State, was aglow with colours, culture, and celebration as the 38th edition of the Lisabi Festival unfolded in grand style.

The annual event, which pays homage to the legendary war hero Lisabi Agbongbo-Akala, brought together indigenes of Egbaland, cultural enthusiasts, tourists, and dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond.

This year’s edition was a spectacle of tradition, music, dance, and royal pageantry, as the rich cultural heritage of the Egba people was on full display.

The week-long festivities featured an array of activities including traditional rites, musical performances, art exhibitions, cultural parades, sporting events, and intellectual discourses—all held under the watchful gaze of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo.

From the ceremonial horse rides to the vibrant aso-ebi adorned by Egba sons and daughters, the festival radiated splendour and unity. Corporate sponsors and cultural groups added colour and creativity to the event, reaffirming the Lisabi Festival’s status as one of the foremost cultural festivals in Nigeria.

In his royal address, Oba Gbadebo commended the efforts of the Lisabi Festival Planning Committee and reiterated the need to preserve the values of hard work, courage, and unity which Lisabi symbolizes.

“This festival is not just about celebration, it is about identity. We must continue to honour our past while inspiring our future generations,” he said.

The festival also witnessed the presence of notable personalities including government officials, traditional rulers from neighbouring communities, business moguls, and foreign cultural observers. Their participation added prestige and international relevance to the celebration.
