Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, will today receive two national recognitions for exemplary leadership, as he is honoured with the Vanguard Personality of the Year (Good Governance) Award and the Energy Times Governor of the Year Award at separate ceremonies in Lagos.

The awards, conferred by Vanguard Newspaper and Energy Times respectively, are designed to spotlight individuals whose public service and institutional reforms have significantly contributed to national progress.

While the Vanguard event is billed for the Convention Centre of Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, the Energy Times ceremony will take place at the Oriental Hotel, Lekki, both within the Lagos metropolis.

Governor Oyebanji had earlier received letters of nomination from both organisations last month at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti.

According to the management of Vanguard Newspaper, Oyebanji was selected for his “transformative leadership style, inclusive governance, and bold investments in infrastructure and human capital development.”

“Governor Oyebanji’s vision and policies have collectively repositioned Ekiti as one of Nigeria’s fast-rising states in terms of growth and citizen-centered development,” the publication added.

Energy Times, in its citation, said the Governor emerged Energy Governor of the Year due to “his decisive steps in the power sector, including reconnecting several communities and local government areas to the national grid, and integrating public institutions into the Independent Power Plant (IPP) network.”

The media outlet noted that these interventions have “greatly improved electricity supply and energy efficiency across the state.”

Reacting to the double honour, Governor Oyebanji expressed deep appreciation to both media organisations for the recognition.

“These awards are not just a personal honour but a validation of our collective commitment to good governance and sustainable development,” he said.

He continued: “I dedicate this recognition to the people of Ekiti and the hardworking members of my team who strive every day to bring our vision to life.”
