The Nigeria Police Force has reacted to a viral video circulating online which shows officers allegedly receiving money from a Chinese national. In a swift response, the Force described the conduct as “unprofessional and unethical” and has ordered immediate disciplinary action against the implicated personnel.
This was made known in a statement released on Thursday, April 17, 2025, by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
According to the statement, the police officers seen in the footage have been identified and subjected to internal disciplinary proceedings. The Force reiterated its zero tolerance for any form of misconduct that undermines the values and standards of the police institution.
“The actions of the officers do not represent the established ethics, standards, and core values of the Nigeria Police Force.”
“The Force has zero tolerance for such unprofessional behaviour and other forms of misconduct, which undermine public trust and confidence,” Adejobi stated.
The Police also issued a stern warning to individuals and organizations who engage police personnel for private services such as escorts and guards, urging them not to exploit such relationships or subject officers to compromising situations.
“The Nigeria Police Force hereby cautions individuals and organizations privileged to the services of Police personnel, particularly as escorts and guards or other specialized services, to desist from any act capable of degrading the integrity of its officers and bringing the Force to disrepute,” the statement read.
The Force maintained that the disciplinary process will be thorough and transparent, in line with internal regulations and the broader commitment to restoring public confidence in the police.
