Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested a social media content creator, Muhammed Kabir Sa’ad, for allegedly abusing Nigeria’s currency in a viral video.
Sa’ad, known by his handle @youngcee0066 on TikTok and Instagram, was captured in a video throwing Naira notes on the ground, stepping on them, and taunting the EFCC in Hausa language to arrest him if they could.
In response to the video, the EFCC launched a surveillance operation and successfully tracked him down to the Tudun Wada area of Kaduna State.
“He was picked up and brought to the Kaduna Zonal Directorate for questioning regarding the content of the viral video,” an EFCC official confirmed.
According to the anti-graft agency, the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
“The act violates provisions of the Central Bank Act, which criminalizes the abuse of the Naira. We are committed to preserving the sanctity of our national currency,” the official added.
