An 18-year-old apprentice in Anambra State has reportedly impregnated 10 girls within a period of five months, triggering concern from authorities and drawing public attention.

The startling revelation was made by the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo, during a live broadcast on social media on Wednesday.

According to Obinabo, the boy was initially sent to serve under a master to learn a trade. However, within three months of his apprenticeship, he had impregnated both his boss’s daughter and the salesgirl working at the shop.

“This boy was sent to learn a trade at the age of 18. After three months of apprenticeship, he impregnated his master’s daughter and his salesgirl. That led to his dismissal,” she revealed.

Obinabo said the situation worsened after the boy returned to his village, where he allegedly impregnated eight more girls in just two months.

“In total, this young boy has gotten 10 girls pregnant. I want advice from the public because this matter is beyond me,” she said.

The Commissioner noted that the boy’s mother personally came to her office to express distress about her son’s behavior.

“She told me, ‘Anytime I see a girl coming towards our house nowadays, my heart would jump. Please, I need help,’” Obinabo narrated.

When asked how he managed to lure so many girls, the boy reportedly said he merely professes love to them and promises marriage once he becomes wealthy.

“I asked him what magic he uses to lure the girls, and he said he tells them he loves them and will marry them once he makes money,” the commissioner recounted.

Obinabo added, “This is a serious social concern. The boy is just 18, and the number of girls involved is alarming. I’m calling on the public—religious leaders, psychologists, and experts—to help us find a solution. Is this a spiritual issue or a matter of poor moral upbringing?”

She did not disclose the identities of the boy, his mother, or their community, citing protection of privacy, but urged the public to share ideas and solutions to address the situation.
