The Nasarawa State Police Command has successfully rescued His Royal Highness Emmanuel Omanji, the traditional ruler of Dari in Kokona Local Government Area, who was abducted from his palace on May 28.

This was disclosed in an official statement released on Tuesday in Lafia by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel.

“The command is pleased to report that the Sangarin Dari, who was abducted on May 28, was successfully rescued unhurt,” Nansel announced.

According to the PPRO, the monarch was freed during a late-night operation on Monday, June 2, around 11:00 p.m. in the Panwasa Mountains near Mada Station. The rescue followed what the police described as “sustained pressure” from its Search and Rescue Team.

Immediately after his rescue, Omanji was taken to a hospital for medical examination and care, and has since been reunited with his family.

“Our operatives acted swiftly and professionally. We are glad to report that the monarch is in good health and back with his loved ones,” Nansel added.

He also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects behind the abduction. “We will not rest until all those involved in this criminal act are brought to justice,” he vowed.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, through the spokesperson, extended appreciation to the public for their critical support.

“The cooperation we received from residents and the timely information provided greatly enhanced the operation’s success,” he said.

He also commended the synergy between the police and other security agencies, as well as the local vigilante groups who participated in the operation.

“This rescue would not have been possible without the collective efforts of our security partners and the vigilant community members who stood by us,” the commissioner emphasized.
