The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has condemned the defection of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as a catastrophic blow to his political rating and public perception.

The group, through its Protem National Coordinator, Barrister Obinna Nwachukwu, expressed deep disappointment, accusing the governor of betraying the trust of the people who supported him under the PDP platform.

“It is disheartening that Governor Eno, who came into office with the aura of a godly man and a genuine servant of the people, has chosen to align with those who represent everything the people abhor in governance,” Nwachukwu stated.

According to him, the CP-PDP had conducted an extensive internal review before arriving at its position, which strongly rebukes the governor’s decision. “Governor Eno has now joined the ranks of the arrogant, ungodly, thoughtless, and notorious lawbreakers whose only mission is to accumulate power and pillage public resources,” he added.

The group also questioned the governor’s political judgment for associating with the administration of President Bola Tinubu, whom they claimed has not lived up to expectations.

“It is shocking that Pastor Eno would admire and even throw his weight behind a presidency that has, by all objective measures, failed woefully in its mid-term assessment,” Nwachukwu said. “By this decision to politically self-destruct, Governor Eno is standing alone in his journey toward political oblivion.”

He further warned that the governor risks losing the support and loyalty of the people of Akwa Ibom who, according to him, “remain steadfastly committed to the PDP and its ideals.”

“Eno can no longer command the solidarity of Akwa Ibom people. He has abandoned the very platform and ideology that made him,” Nwachukwu concluded.
