Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has congratulated the lawmaker representing Yewa North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, on his turbaning as the 3rd Seriki Adinni of Yewaland.

Speaking at the colourful ceremony held at the Ansarudeen praying ground in Imeko-Afon, the governor urged the new Seriki Adinni to use his new role to promote peace, foster unity among the Muslim faithful, and champion the spiritual growth of the Ummah in Yewaland.

Describing the honour as well deserved, Abiodun said, “GNI, as he is fondly called, has consistently exemplified humility, integrity, discipline, and strength that command respect across both the public and private sectors, including his role at the National Assembly.”

The governor also praised Isiaka’s unwavering dedication to the advancement of his people, noting that, “Hon. Isiaka has remained a dignified ambassador of Imeko, Yewaland, and Ogun West. He is principled, and always committed to the progress of his constituency and beyond. As Seriki Adinni, I have no doubt that he will bring the same quality leadership to the Muslim community in Yewaland.”

Governor Abiodun further remarked that the title goes beyond personal recognition, saying it is “a call to duty and deeper service” that should be approached with grace and sincerity.

He also acknowledged the pivotal role of the lawmaker’s family in his journey. “Behind every effective leader is a family that believes in and supports the mission. I commend your wife and entire family for their steadfastness,” he said.

In his sermon, Islamic scholar Sheikh Tajudeen Olaotan described the Seriki Adinni title as one of the most significant honours in Islam. He stated that the turbaning of Hon. Isiaka was divine and symbolic.

According to him, “This is not just a title. It is a divine responsibility. You must brace up for the task ahead, remain focused and determined, because there is no position without its challenges.”

Sheikh Olaotan charged the new Seriki Adinni to work towards uniting the Muslim Ummah in Yewaland. He also encouraged him to prioritize human capital development by empowering the people through education, supporting the renovation and construction of mosques, and uplifting Imams as custodians of Islamic knowledge and values.
