The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and the Creative Economy, Hon. Hannatu Musa Musawa, has revealed that Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, will lead a forthcoming national unity song as part of new federal initiatives to boost the creative economy.

Musawa made this known on Friday evening during a strategic meeting with Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, where both parties discussed areas of collaboration in art, culture, tourism, and the creative economy.

Speaking after the closed-door session, the Minister praised Adeleke for his hands-on leadership and visible impact on the development of Osun State.

“Osun people, you are lucky to have this hardworking leader as your Governor. He is truly a performing governor,” Musawa said.

She outlined some of the federal government’s upcoming plans, which include the creation of a national register of tourism sites, promotion of airports for tourism purposes, and the launch of the unity song to be spearheaded by Davido.

She emphasized Osun’s significance, describing the state as central to the South West’s cultural heritage, blessed with notable festivals, historical tourism assets, and the global brand image of Davido.

“We are elated for this emerging partnership between my ministry and the Osun State Government. This will be consolidated during the meeting of the National Council on Arts and Culture to be held on a date to be announced soon,” she added.

In his response, Governor Adeleke welcomed the federal collaboration and noted the ongoing efforts of his administration to grow the cultural and creative sectors.

“I welcome this partnership with the federal ministry. Osun has enjoyed deep relationships with several federal ministries and agencies. We are building on that and we take this planned deal with the Ministry of Creative Economy very seriously,” Adeleke stated.

The Governor further disclosed that his administration had recently signed several agreements, including one with the British Museum during his trip to the UK. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to expanding the frontiers of art, culture, and tourism in Osun.

“It will be our honour to host the National Council meeting at an agreed date,” he added.
