Ogun State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of members nominated by Governor Dapo Abiodun to the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), declaring them fit to serve in public office.
The confirmation followed the adoption of the report of the Committee of the Whole House, chaired by Speaker Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, after the nominees had been screened by the lawmakers.
Presenting the report during plenary, the Majority Leader, Hon. Yusuf Sheriff, explained that the committee thoroughly examined the nominees’ curriculum vitae, academic qualifications, and responses during the screening exercise. According to him, the nominees were found competent and qualified for the role.
Sheriff thereafter moved for the adoption of the report, which was seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Lukman Adeleye, and unanimously supported by other members through a voice vote.
The confirmation was eventually sealed following a motion moved by the Majority Leader, seconded by the Minority Leader, and backed by the entire Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, also announced at the sitting that a zonal town hall meeting for members of state houses of assembly across the country has been scheduled to hold in Lagos from Friday, July 4 to Saturday, July 5, 2025.
