Ekiti Police Nab 8 Suspects for Killing, Abduction

Operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested eight persons in connection with the killing of two individuals and the abduction of three others in Odo Ayedun-Ekiti.

The suspects, identified as Sule Dairu (25), Ali Bello (25), Mohammodu Hammed (21), Ali Salihu Medoki (25), Ori Gambo alias Gambo Alhaji (20), Shaibu Umaru alias Gahi (45), Ibrahim Abdullahi alias Rusku (27), and 40-year-old Suberu Lawal, were apprehended by the Command’s Rapid Response Squad.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, investigation showed that “on May 7, 2025, at about 10pm, the gang, numbering about 10, stormed Isah Camp, shot one Mohammodu Ibrahim dead, and kidnapped four persons. They later killed another victim, Ibrahim Baba, after ransom had been paid by his family.”

The police spokesman added that items belonging to the victims, including a Tecno phone, clothes, and slippers, were recovered from the suspects. He confirmed that the arrested men confessed to their roles in the crime and have been charged to court, where they were remanded at the correctional centre.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Joseph Eribo, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling crime, urging residents to remain vigilant and continue to cooperate with security agencies.
