Renowned academic and former Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof Wande Abimbola, will on Sunday, September 14, 2025, lead discussions at the September edition of Boiling Point Arena, where the spotlight will be on Nigeria’s declining university system.
The globally streamed discourse, which begins at 8pm via Zoom and will be broadcast live on six radio stations across Lagos, Ogun and Delta States, will interrogate decades of systemic rot, infrastructural collapse and policy failures that have plagued Nigerian universities.
The theme for the 35th edition is “Nigerian Universities: Tower of Crises, Citadel of Missed Opportunities. Can the Lost Glory be Reclaimed?”
Prof Abimbola, who is over 92 years old and still actively engaged in scholarship across American universities, is expected to share his wealth of experience and offer practical solutions to reposition Nigerian universities for global competitiveness.
Adding weight to the conversation, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof Saka Matemilola, will serve as Keynote Speaker and Chair of the event.
Boiling Point Arena, hosted by media professional Dr Ayo Arowojolu, has become a leading monthly platform for addressing national issues, attracting a large following and featuring eminent personalities including professors, technocrats, industry leaders, traditional rulers, judges and security experts.
