Ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, the Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has officially endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term.

The former Oyo State governor made the announcement during a congratulatory visit by Adeleke to his Ibadan residence ahead of Ladoja’s coronation scheduled for September 26, 2025.

During the visit, Oba Ladoja lauded Adeleke’s performance, noting that his developmental initiatives have positively transformed Osun State.

“Every day we hear of your good works, and we are proud of the progress you are bringing to your people. Your developmental strides should continue beyond 2026 because no one can stop the good work you are doing,” the monarch said.

He added that he would personally attend Adeleke’s second-term swearing-in if re-elected, saying, “One good term deserves another.”

The Olubadan-designate also drew parallels between his own political journey and that of Adeleke, recognizing both men’s roles as senators and governors.

He praised Adeleke’s leadership, stating, “Osun is a difficult state to govern, but you have changed the narrative. You are doing many wonderful things, and I can see the people are happy with you. Keep it up.”

Reflecting on Adeleke’s family legacy, Oba Ladoja remarked, “You are from a family of excellent people. Your father, Senator Adeleke, your brother, my own Serubawon, Senator and former Governor. Thank you for keeping the flag flying.”

In response, Governor Adeleke congratulated Oba Ladoja on his ascension to the throne, describing it as well-deserved and historic.

He pledged to honor the monarch during his coronation, saying, “Kabiyesi, I deeply appreciate your guidance and wise counsel. Your leadership legacy continues to inspire me in Osun State. I pray for long life, filled with peace, joy, happiness, and divine blessings on the throne of your forefathers.”

The visit also saw the presence of the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Teslim Igbalaye; Chief of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye; Yeyelua Modupeola Sanni-Adeleke; and commissioners including Otunba Tola Faseru, Hon. Olatunji Ayofe, Hon. Biyi Odunlade, and Hon. Soji Ajeigbe.
