Excitement is building among travellers and business communities as Value Jet Airlines is set to commence passenger operations at the Gateway International Airport, Ogun State, from Tuesday, October 7.
According to a statement released by the airline and endorsed by the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, flights will operate twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, connecting the state-of-the-art Gateway Airport (GWI) to Abuja.
The GWI–Abuja flight will depart at 8:30 am and land at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by 9:45 am, while the return flight will depart Abuja at 4:00 pm and arrive in Ogun by 5:15 pm.
The announcement has already generated enthusiasm among prospective passengers. Many travellers from Ibadan, across Ogun, Lagos, and Abuja have expressed interest in the new route, citing easier connectivity, reduced travel stress, and access to modern facilities at GWI.
A statement by Value Jet revealed that tickets would be available from Thursday, September 25, through online platforms, travel agents, and at ticket desks at the Gateway International Airport.
Business executives, contractors, bankers, government officials, and leisure travellers are among those eager to experience the new service, which is expected to boost both economic and social activities within the state.
Speaking on the development, Hon. Kayode Akinmade described the move as a landmark moment in the state’s infrastructural growth.
He said the commencement of Value Jet flights “marks the beginning of seamless air connectivity for Ogun State and a major milestone for residents, investors, and travellers who now have a convenient option for accessing Abuja and beyond.”
