The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested five suspected cattle rustlers said to be responsible for several cases of stolen cows across communities in the state.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Commander of the Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, and made available to journalists by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander of Corps (ACC) Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

According to Ganzallo, the suspects were apprehended on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, by operatives of the So-Safe Corps, Ibefun Division, in collaboration with local cow owners.

He said the operation led to the arrest of the group accused of stealing cows from different towns including Agbowa, Imota, Ito-Ikin, Ibefun, and Eganmutakun.

He listed the suspects as Akin Olayinka (35), Mohammed Abdullah (40), Idris Saheed (25), Seriki Abubakar (15), and Musa Abubakar (35). Ganzallo explained that during preliminary interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, admitting that they sold the stolen cows to unsuspecting buyers and shared the proceeds among themselves.

“The suspects confessed that they usually sell the stolen cows at either the marketplace or to unsuspecting individuals before sharing the money among themselves,” Ganzallo said.

The Commander described the group as “the masterminds behind the incessant loss of cows and other livestock in these communities,” adding that their arrest was made possible through the joint effort of the Corps and the vigilant cow owners.

He commended the affected communities for their collaboration with security operatives. “I want to appreciate the cow owners and the communities for their cooperation and support which made this arrest possible,” he added.

Ganzallo said the suspects have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba Area Command, Ijebu Ode, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
