Residents of the Ogijo community in Ogun State have been thrown into shock after a dismembered female body was discovered inside a sack in a secluded farmland.

The Ogun State Police Command, confirming the incident, stated that an investigation has commenced, with indications suggesting a possible case of ritual killing.

The command, in a statement issued on Monday, February 17, 2025, revealed that local community members reported the disturbing discovery to the police.

“On February 16, 2025, at about 1510hrs, the Chairman of Sedu 2 Community, Ogijo, alongside two other residents, alerted the Ogijo Police Division about the presence of an unidentified female body in a fenced farmland,” the statement read.

Describing the victim, the police noted: “The deceased is a light-complexioned female, estimated to be over thirty years old. Upon arrival at the scene, detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), found the female corpse without a head and both hands, wrapped in a sack.”

Preliminary findings suggest that the body was dumped at the location after the crime had been committed elsewhere. The police confirmed that the scene had been secured for forensic examination.

“The crime scene was cordoned off, and the remains have been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, for further forensic analysis,” the statement added.

The incident has heightened fears of ritual killings in Ogun State, as communities continue to grapple with similar gruesome crimes.

This latest discovery comes just days after the tragic death of Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, a final-year student of the Kwara State College of Education, who was allegedly murdered by an Islamic cleric, Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo.

Reports indicate that Ballo, who had connected with Yetunde through Facebook, lured her under the guise of a meeting. The 20-year-old student disappeared on February 10, 2025, after leaving a naming ceremony to take a call from a friend.

Her family, after failing to locate her, reported the matter to the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin, prompting an investigation. Police investigators traced her last phone call to Ballo’s residence in the Offa Garage area of Ilorin, leading to his arrest.
