The Borno State Police Command has confirmed that a swift operation by its Crack Squad prevented a Boko Haram attack in Malari, Konduga Local Government Area, leaving one resident injured and three others missing.
The incident occurred on Sunday when operatives stationed at the Malari Forward Operating Base sighted about fifteen armed insurgents approaching the community on motorcycles around noon.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the officers quickly engaged the attackers, leading to a brief exchange of gunfire that forced the insurgents to retreat.
He said a 15 year old boy sustained a gunshot wound during the confrontation and was immediately taken to the General Hospital in Maiduguri for treatment.
Daso added that three adult male residents, aged 35, 45 and 50, were reported missing after the attack and their whereabouts remain unknown.
A combined team of Police operatives, the military and members of the CJTF and local hunters has begun a search and rescue mission to locate the missing persons and secure the community.
He assured that normalcy had been restored and further details would be released as operations continue.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, urged residents to stay calm and support ongoing security efforts, reiterating the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
He said the Police will keep working with other security agencies and community members to strengthen intelligence gathering and provide timely assistance.
“The Command urges the public to remain calm, be vigilant, and continue to support security agencies with credible information,” the statement added.
