Abuja – Christopher Musa, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), met with President Bola Tinubu at the State House on Monday, signaling a potential shake-up in Nigeria’s security architecture.
Musa arrived at the State House around 7:03 p.m. and was escorted into the president’s office by a senior security official. This marks his first engagement with Tinubu since his retirement on October 24.
Though the details of the closed-door meeting were not officially disclosed, sources familiar with the discussion indicated that it focused on the escalating security challenges across northern Nigeria.
Incidents cited include the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi, attacks on worshippers in Eruku, Kwara, and the kidnapping of students at a Catholic school in Minna, Niger State.
President Tinubu had earlier declared a security emergency, prompting intensified counterterrorism and anti-kidnapping operations across the north-west and north-central regions.
The meeting with Musa is seen as part of the administration’s efforts to strategize on stemming the rise of insecurity in the country.
