Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has recognised 177 top-performing public servants with a combination of brand-new cars and cash prizes totaling N165.5 million, rewarding excellence and promoting consistent service delivery.

The awards were presented during the 2025 ‘Mr. Governor’s Luncheon’ held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, bringing together high-achieving staff from Ministries, Departments, Agencies, Local Government Areas, and Local Council Development Areas across the state.

According to Gboyega Akosile, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, five of the 99 senior category civil servants won brand-new cars through a raffle draw, while the remaining 94 received N1 million each. In the junior category, five outstanding staff were awarded N5 million each, and 73 others received N500,000 each.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also announced the promotion of Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa, Director-General of the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation, to Permanent Secretary. He presented N10 million to the office’s staff for their role in putting Lagos on the national and global map.

Speaking at the event, Sanwo-Olu encouraged public servants to maintain diligence and high standards, emphasizing that “excellence must be sustained over time” and that public service remains central to effective governance and development.

Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro, explained that the 177 awardees were selected through a rigorous process from 312 nominations submitted by various MDAs. He praised the Governor for his commitment to the welfare of public servants and called on all staff to demonstrate responsibility, diligence, and dedication.

The luncheon marked the grand finale of the 2025 Public Service Week, which included medical screenings, fitness walks, donations to children with disabilities, long-service awards, a government lecture, and talent competitions.
