The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, So-Safe Corps, has intensified patrols and surveillance across the state ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, urging residents to remain cautious as they travel and take part in festive activities.
The call was contained in a goodwill message issued by the State Commander of the Corps, Cmdr. (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, and made available to the public through the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander of Corps Adegunwa Adegbuyi.
Cmdr. Ganzallo described the Yuletide as a season of joy, reflection, and family bonding, but warned that the period also requires increased alertness, especially on highways, within residential areas, and at public gathering points.
“The festive season comes with increased human and vehicular movement. Residents must therefore be vigilant, particularly on our roads, in their neighbourhoods, and at places of celebration,” he said.
He advised motorists to shun reckless driving, obey traffic rules, and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on long-distance journeys.
According to him, avoidable accidents often occur during the festive period due to speeding and poor vehicle maintenance.
The State Commander also urged residents to be mindful of their surroundings in crowded places, avoid unnecessary late-night movements, and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to security agencies.
“Our officers have been deployed across all formations. Patrols, surveillance, and community engagement have been intensified to ensure a peaceful and crime-free Yuletide.”
“We are fully prepared and will continue to work closely with sister security agencies to protect lives and property throughout the season,” Ganzallo stated
He further appealed to community leaders, parents, and youths to promote peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and respect for the law during the celebrations, stressing that security is a shared responsibility.
“Safety is not the duty of security agencies alone. Collective responsibility remains key to sustaining peace and security across Ogun State,” he added.
Cmdr. Ganzallo extended Christmas and New Year greetings to the Ogun State Government and residents, assuring them of the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while expressing hope for a safe, peaceful, and prosperous year ahead.
