Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved the appointment of nine new Permanent Secretaries, alongside two Principals General and four Headteachers General, as part of efforts to strengthen administrative efficiency and service delivery across the Ogun State civil service and education sector.
A statement issued by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, said the appointments were made in line with Section 208(c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, after careful consideration of merit, professionalism, inclusiveness and relevant experience in the state’s public service.
Onasanya explained that the newly appointed Permanent Secretary designates were drawn from a pool of Directors who successfully completed the Ogun State Executive Leadership Development Pipeline Programme, which serves as the source for top level appointments in the civil service.
Those appointed include Abdul Azeez Oludare Ajidele from the Ministry of Justice, Olufunmilayo Yetunde Soyoye Baker of the Cash Transfer Unit, Adebimpe Foluso Obienu of the Ministry of Justice, Kafayat Modupe Lawal of the Alternate Medicine Board, Ahmed Bayo Adetona from the Office of the Auditor General, Idowu Oladapo Onasanya of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Olalekan Peter Taiwo of the State Treasury Office, Akintomiwa Oluwagbeminiyi Osibodu of the Teaching Service Commission, and Kehinde Olukayode Akintomide of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
In the same vein, the governor also approved the appointment of Matthew Adeyinka Osilesi and Yakubu Olorunyomi Lamidi as Principals General for the Remo and Ijebu divisions respectively, while Benjamin Olusegun Alonge, Aminat Folake Busari, Olusegun Nathaniel Akapo and Folake Omolara Onabanjo were appointed Headteachers General across the Ijebu, Remo, Yewa and Egba divisions.
The Head of Service said the Principals General and Headteachers General emerged from a rigorous selection process that included oral interviews and detailed assessment of their schools, covering academic performance, record keeping, staff relations, maintenance of facilities and personal attributes.
While congratulating the appointees, Onasanya charged them to show dedication, devotion and selfless service in their new responsibilities, and to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state in line with the “Building Our Future Together” agenda of the Abiodun administration.
He added that the swearing in ceremony for the new appointees would be conducted by the governor at a later date.
