The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two individuals over the alleged murder of a youth in Eleto community, Eleme Local Government Area.
The suspects reportedly abducted the victim, Sampson Worianime, from Okrika LGA and transported him to Eleme, where the crime was committed.
This was disclosed by the state police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday.
According to the statement, the arrests followed a petition by the victim’s mother after her son went missing. “The Rivers State Police Command has made significant progress in the investigation into the disappearance of Sampson Worianime, who was reported missing on November 11, 2025, after accompanying his Community Youth from Ogbogbo Community in Okrika to measure land at their old settlement,” the statement reads.
The suspects, identified as 26-year-old Igwe Alex, Chief Security Officer of Aleto-Eleme Community, and 24-year-old John Mikel, both from Aleto community, confessed during preliminary questioning.
They admitted to abducting two youths, with Worianime killed and his body dumped in a nearby river. Police later recovered the victim’s remains from a shallow grave after the suspects led officers to the location.
The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure all perpetrators face justice.
The command urged members of the public to provide information that could aid ongoing investigations.
The suspects remain in police custody, cooperating with investigators as efforts continue to apprehend additional accomplices.
