The National Youth Service Corps has announced the deployment plan for the 2026 Batch A Stream One prospective corps members as preparations intensify for the nationwide orientation programme scheduled to begin on January 21.

The scheme confirmed that call up letters are now available, urging prospective corps members to log into the NYSC portal to check their postings and complete all required documentation before proceeding to orientation camps.

In a statement issued via its official X handle on Monday, the NYSC disclosed that some prospective corps members posted to Lagos State and the Federal Capital Territory will undergo their orientation programmes in neighbouring states due to limited camp capacity.

According to the scheme, prospective corps members deployed to Lagos will attend orientation camps in Ekiti, Kwara, Ondo, Ogun and Osun states. Those posted to the Federal Capital Territory will be mobilised to camps in Kaduna, Niger and Nasarawa states.

The NYSC explained that the arrangement became necessary because only about 40 per cent of registered prospective corps members can be accommodated for the upcoming orientation exercise nationwide.

The scheme also issued a travel advisory, warning prospective corps members against travelling at night to orientation camps. It advised them to plan their journeys properly and arrive safely ahead of the registration process.

In addition, the NYSC reminded prospective corps members to print and sign all required documents before reporting to camp, noting that failure to complete documentation could delay or prevent registration.

The scheme further warned that prospective corps members with inconsistencies in their records would not be registered at the orientation camps. It specifically cited discrepancies between the date of graduation on call up letters and the date stated on statements of results.

“Prospective Corps Members with discrepancies in the Date of Graduation on their call up letters and the date on their Statement of Results will not be registered in the Orientation Camp,” the statement said.

It advised affected individuals to resolve such issues with their institutions’ Student Affairs Officers before reporting to camp.

The NYSC also released guidelines for married female prospective corps members, stating that those not posted to the state of their husband’s domicile should report to the nearest orientation camp for registration.

For those seeking concessional posting on marital grounds, the scheme directed them to upload relevant documents, including a marriage certificate, identity of husband and a letter confirming the husband’s place of domicile.

The NYSC reiterated that discipline would be strictly enforced throughout the orientation exercise, stressing that it would not tolerate any form of misconduct as the programme begins across the country.
