The Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, will hold its 26th combined convocation ceremonies alongside its 50th Founder’s Day anniversary between February 6 and February 12, 2026.

The week long programme was announced in an official invitation issued by the Provost of the college, Dr. Rafiu Adekola Soyele, on behalf of the Governing Council, College Management and the entire college community.

According to the programme, the convocation will cover graduates of the 2022 to 2023 and 2023 to 2024 academic sessions, during which the Nigeria Certificate in Education will be awarded.

The ceremonies will also feature the conferment of fellowship as part of activities marking the institution’s golden jubilee.

Activities will commence on Friday, February 6, with a press briefing at the Council Chambers by 9.30am, followed by a special Jumat service at the College Mosque by 1.00pm. An alumni football match will take place later in the day at the College Sports Field by 4.00pm.

Saturday, February 7, is dedicated to Alumni Day, featuring the commissioning of alumni projects, a lecture and reunion, as well as other programmes to mark the 50th anniversary. The events will be held at the College Sports Field from 9.00am.

A special interdenominational service and thanksgiving will be held on Sunday, February 8, at the Chapel of Peace, FCE Abeokuta, by 10.00am.

On Monday, February 9, activities include a jogging and endurance trek on campus by 7.00am, followed by a health awareness programme at COEASU Hall by 11.00am.

The health session will feature a lecture by Dr. Adetomiwa Festus, medical fitness tests and other health related activities organised by Doctors Connect. A football match will also take place at the college field by 3.30pm.

The Founder’s Day activities continue on Tuesday, February 10, with a special event in honour of the founding provost, Baba Gani Belo, at the M.K.O. Abiola Lake and Provost Office Complex by 10.00am.

This will be followed by a convocation play at the Theatre Arts Complex by 2.00pm and a reminiscences night at the Provost Office Complex by 5.00pm.

On Wednesday, February 11, the college will commission projects at the Alex O. Eyengho Governing Council Complex and other locations from 9.30am.

The convocation lecture will be delivered by Prof. Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, former TRCN Registrar, at the Prof. Kunle Filani Academic Theatre by 12 noon.

Entertainment of staff will take place across units and departments by 3.00pm, while the College Award Night holds at COEASU Hall later in the evening.

The programme will climax on Thursday, February 12, with the second phase of project commissioning at the Dr. Morufu Olatunji Alausa Computer Science Complex and the Oba Dr. Saka Adetola Matemilola Languages Complex by 9.30am. The convocation ceremony proper will take place at Maina Hall.

An exhibition will run throughout the celebration period from February 10 to February 12 at the Adetayo Ajayi Treasure Garden between 7.00am and 5.00pm daily.

The Provost, Dr. Soyele, described the combined convocation and Founder’s Day anniversary as a celebration of academic excellence, institutional growth and five decades of contributions to teacher education in Nigeria.
