Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has unveiled an Artificial Intelligence powered teaching and learning platform known as OgunLEARN, marking a major step in the state’s drive to integrate technology into public education.

The unveiling, according to a statement issued by the state government, took place at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, and forms part of ongoing efforts to modernise education delivery, strengthen teacher capacity, and improve learning outcomes across public schools in Ogun State.

Speaking at the event, Abiodun described the initiative as historic, stressing that education remains the strongest foundation for societal development.

He said the introduction of OgunLEARN reflects his administration’s commitment to innovation and long term investment in human capital development.

The governor also referenced existing education focused initiatives such as EduCash, OGSERA, and DiPER, noting that they have continued to support growth and reforms within the sector.

In his welcome address, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, described OgunLEARN as a transformative intervention capable of accelerating educational progress across the state.

He urged teachers, school administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure the platform is effectively deployed and properly utilised to achieve its objectives.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Evang. Olalekan Ifede, said the launch of the AI platform represents a significant milestone in the education reforms being implemented by the Abiodun administration.

According to him, the adoption of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning demonstrates a deliberate commitment to preparing learners and teachers for contemporary educational demands.

Ifede explained that OgunLEARN would enhance classroom delivery, improve teacher productivity, and make learning more responsive to modern realities.

He added that the platform complements recent policy decisions aimed at improving teacher motivation and career progression, including the approval of career advancement for degree holding primary school teachers to Grade Level 17 and the reintroduction of Headteachers General.

He called on teachers and learners to embrace the platform, noting that its success would depend on consistent and responsible usage across schools.

In his goodwill message, the Ogun State Chairman of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, Comrade Olushina Faleti, commended the state government for integrating artificial intelligence into the education system.

He expressed confidence that OgunLEARN would enhance instructional delivery and significantly improve learning outcomes in public schools across the state.
