President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Ankara, the capital of the Republic of Türkiye, for a state visit aimed at strengthening the ties between Nigeria and Türkiye.
A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed that the President’s aircraft touched down at Ankara Esenboğa Airport at exactly 9:03 pm local time. He was received by a Turkish government delegation led by the Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin.
Also present to welcome the President were the Chargé d’Affaires at the Nigerian Embassy in Türkiye, Ambassador Zayyad Abdulsalam, and other embassy officials.
At the hotel, President Tinubu was received by key Nigerian officials, including the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi SAN, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, Minister of Solid Minerals, Dele Alake, and the Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd).
Other officials in attendance were the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Kingsley Udeh SAN, Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Babajimi Benson, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
The visit is expected to deepen cooperation between the two countries, with both sides set to sign Memoranda of Understanding and discuss areas of mutual interest.
During the visit, President Tinubu will hold talks with his Turkish counterpart, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and participate in other engagements aimed at advancing a mutually beneficial partnership.
