The Presidency has dismissed concerns about the health of Tinubu, affirming that he is in good condition and that his state visit to Türkiye is progressing as scheduled.
The clarification was given on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, via his verified X handle.
According to him, Tinubu moved seamlessly from the ceremonial reception in Ankara to a series of bilateral engagements with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other top government officials.
“President Tinubu, after a stately welcome ceremony in Ankara, proceeded to scheduled bilateral meetings with the President of Türkiye and other senior government officials,” Dare stated.
The Presidency explained that the meetings are focused on strengthening diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Türkiye, with discussions centred on defence and security cooperation, trade and investment, energy, and broader economic development.
It noted that the smooth flow of activities during the visit reflects the growing partnership between both countries and Nigeria’s renewed diplomatic engagement on the global stage under Tinubu.
Also reacting to enquiries about a brief incident during the reception, the Presidential Spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, said there was no cause for concern, stressing that the President did not fall or suffer any injury.
“The President stepped on a metal on the floor, which made him lose his balance,” Onanuga said. “This is not a big deal, except for those who want to make mischief out of a fleeting incident.”
He added, “It was a mere stumble, thank God, not a fall.”
The Presidency urged Nigerians to ignore attempts to sensationalise the incident, assuring that Tinubu remains fit, focused, and fully engaged in his official duties in Türkiye.
