Governor Dapo Abiodun has ordered the immediate reconstruction of the Carwash–Moore Junction Road in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, declaring that the state capital must continue to receive priority infrastructure attention.
The governor made the announcement on Thursday during the commissioning of the Lantoro–Oke-Yidi–Isale Ake Junction Road, describing Abeokuta as the administrative and political hub of Ogun State that deserves sustained and strategic investment.
Abiodun said the reconstruction of the Carwash–Moore corridor would commence without delay, adding that the move forms part of a broader effort to strengthen connectivity, improve traffic flow and support economic activities within the capital city.
He explained that road projects across Ogun Central Senatorial District were selected through consultations with critical stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, market associations and community representatives.
According to him, the participatory approach ensures that the most pressing needs of residents are addressed.
The governor disclosed that 29 roads have been completed in Ogun Central over the past six years, while 10 others are currently under construction and will soon be commissioned, bringing the total number of projects in the district to 39.
Describing the newly inaugurated Lantoro–Oke-Yidi–Isale Ake Road as a vital link, Abiodun said it provides access to key institutions such as Sacred Heart Hospital, the School of Nursing and the Muslim praying ground, while also serving as an alternative route connecting major parts of Abeokuta.
Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Ade Akinsanya, said the road projects were in fulfilment of campaign promises and would ease transportation challenges while stimulating commercial activities along the corridors.
In his remarks, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, commended the state government for its continued focus on infrastructure that supports critical sectors, including health and education.
The Executive Chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Balogun Olaniyi Afeez, praised the governor for what he described as commitment to project delivery, while appealing for intervention on the Saje and Mokola roads.
He noted that sustained development in the capital would further enhance the quality of life for residents.
