Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has reiterated his commitment to transparency and accountability in the state’s civil service, urging anti-corruption agencies to review the controversial payroll audit report submitted by consulting firm Sally Tibbot Limited.

In a statement on Saturday, the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said via Osun State’s X handle that both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) are free to examine the report. Adeleke stressed that the audit focused solely on the payroll and personnel framework inherited from the previous administration of former governor Gboyega Oyetola.

“The audit was conducted on the payroll and personnel structure under Oyetola’s administration. Our government did not expand or manipulate the existing framework,” the statement said.

The audit, carried out shortly after Adeleke assumed office in November 2022, aimed to identify irregularities such as ghost workers and inflated personnel records in the Osun State civil service. Adeleke commended his administration for rejecting recommendations that sought to disengage legitimate workers, describing such proposals as self-serving and potentially fraudulent.

“We stopped likely fraud even while pushing to clean up the system. This decision helped protect civil servants and ensured integrity in the payroll system,” the governor added.

He welcomed calls for the EFCC and ICPC to review the audit, insisting that officials from the previous administration be prepared to answer questions arising from the report.

“We welcome the call on the EFCC and ICPC to review the audit report. Let the Oyetola administration officials brace up for the exercise,” Adeleke concluded.
