Lagos – Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have reiterated their unwavering support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, promising to intensify reforms aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.

The commitment came on Saturday during a meeting of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) held in Lagos and hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. The gathering reviewed the country’s political and economic outlook while seeking to enhance coordination among APC-led states.

Reading the communique, PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, said the forum is fully aligned with Tinubu’s efforts to stabilise the economy, strengthen national security, and develop key sectors such as food production, power, transportation, and social investment.

Uzodinma stressed that ongoing reforms must ultimately improve living conditions for Nigerians. The governors acknowledged the economic pressures on citizens resulting from current macroeconomic adjustments, commending Nigerians for their resilience and patience.

To mitigate the impact of reforms, the PGF announced plans to scale up interventions in food production, support for small businesses, youth employment programmes, and social protection initiatives for vulnerable households. They emphasised collaboration with federal and local governments as crucial.

Infrastructure emerged as a key priority, with Lagos cited as a model for transportation and urban renewal. Governors pledged increased investments in roads, housing, water supply, digital infrastructure, and climate-resilient projects to create more liveable communities across APC states.

On security, the forum praised improved coordination between security agencies and local structures nationwide. They promised to strengthen community-based security systems, enhance intelligence gathering, and promote social cohesion, while condemning hate speech and divisive rhetoric.

The PGF also highlighted the importance of effective local governance, committing to reforms that promote transparency, accountability, and better service delivery at the grassroots. Town hall meetings, consultations, and partnerships with civil society and traditional institutions were identified as tools to expand citizen engagement.

Reassuring APC supporters, the governors reiterated loyalty to the party leadership and pledged to foster unity, discipline, and reconciliation. Describing themselves as “trustees of the people’s mandate,” they vowed to deliver tangible results across all APC-controlled states.

Expressing optimism about the country’s future, the forum called on Nigerians to remain hopeful, law-abiding, and supportive of government initiatives as the year winds down.
