Arsenal have tightened their grip on the Premier League title race with a ruthless 4–0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road, delivering a commanding performance that underlined their authority at the summit.

The Gunners dominated proceedings to move seven points clear at the top, combining tactical discipline with clinical finishing to overwhelm a Leeds side that struggled to cope with sustained pressure for long spells of the contest.

Leeds started brightly, pressing high and attempting to unsettle Arsenal’s rhythm. Early deliveries into the box and a speculative effort from Ethan Ampadu suggested intent, but genuine chances were hard to come by as Arsenal gradually asserted control of possession and territory.

Despite being forced into a late reshuffle following Bukayo Saka’s withdrawal before kick off, Arsenal grew in confidence and began to pin Leeds back. Their breakthrough came in the 27th minute after a period of sustained pressure. Noni Madueke swung in a dangerous cross following a poorly cleared corner, and Martin Zubimendi reacted quickest inside the six yard box to head home from close range.

The visitors doubled their advantage just over ten minutes later in calamitous fashion for the hosts. Madueke’s inswinging corner again caused panic in the Leeds defence, and goalkeeper Karl Darlow, attempting to punch clear under pressure, inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net. The goal left Elland Road subdued as Arsenal went into the break firmly in control, with Leeds failing to register a single shot on target in the first half.

Daniel Farke made changes at half time in a bid to inject urgency, and Leeds showed more enterprise early in the second period. A corner eventually brought their first real test for Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, but Pascal Struijk’s header was dealt with comfortably.

Any hope of a comeback was effectively ended in the 69th minute. Gabriel Martinelli, introduced from the bench, isolated his marker and drove a low cross into the danger area. Viktor Gyokeres timed his run perfectly and finished from close range for his first league goal of the year, further draining belief from the home side.

Arsenal continued to create openings as Leeds tired, with Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus both denied by Darlow. Jesus eventually added the fourth in the 86th minute after a slick exchange with Martin Odegaard, also introduced from the bench. The Brazilian showed strength and composure before guiding a right footed effort inside the far post to cap a dominant display.

The emphatic win not only reinforced Arsenal’s title credentials but also sent a clear message to their rivals. With momentum firmly on their side and depth making a telling difference, the Gunners left Elland Road having tightened their grip on the Premier League race in convincing fashion.
