Mikel Arteta introduced Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze in search of an equaliser, yet Liverpool’s defence, marshalled by Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, stood firm. Alisson Becker also made key interventions late on to preserve the lead.
Arsenal threatened in stoppage time when Riccardo Calafiori’s long throw caused panic in the Liverpool box, but the home side held on to claim maximum points.
