Celtic have sacked Wilfried Nancy after just 33 days in charge as manager of the Scottish giants.
The decision was announced in a statement issued by the club on Monday, following a run of poor results that saw the Frenchman lose six of his eight matches at the helm.
Nancy’s final game in charge was Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat to Rangers in the Old Firm derby, a result that intensified pressure from supporters and sparked protests outside Celtic Park.
In the statement, the club confirmed that Nancy’s contract had been terminated with immediate effect, while thanking him for his efforts and wishing him and his family well for the future.
Celtic also announced the departure of Nancy’s backroom staff, Kwame Ampadu, Jules Gueguen, and Maxime Chalier, who all leave the club alongside the former manager.
In addition, Paul Tisdale has stepped down from his role as Head of Football Operations, with the club expressing appreciation for his contribution during his time at Parkhead.
Nancy was appointed as Brendan Rodgers’ permanent replacement but struggled to convince on the pitch, with his insistence on a new tactical system drawing criticism from fans and pundits alike.
Celtic said a further update would be provided to supporters as soon as practicable as the club begins the search for a new manager.
