Arsenal’s win on Merseyside ensured they reclaimed first place before the festive break.
City manager Pep Guardiola, despite his side’s seventh straight win in all competitions, warned his players that improvements are still needed.
“I want to be honest. I said to the players, ‘Merry Christmas everyone but it will not be enough if we don’t improve’,” Guardiola said.
