The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays in celebration of Good Friday and Easter Monday.
This was made known in a statement on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
While congratulating Christians on the occasion of Easter, Tunji-Ojo called on Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of sacrifice and love, symbolised by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“The sacrifice of Jesus Christ reminds us of the importance of love, selflessness, and unity,” the minister stated. “This season is not only a time for celebration but for deep reflection and renewal.”
He encouraged citizens to use the Easter holiday period to pray for peace, unity, and stability in the country, especially as the nation strives to overcome its current challenges.
“I urge all Nigerians, regardless of faith, to show love and extend goodwill to one another. Acts of kindness go a long way in healing and building our nation,” Tunji-Ojo added.
He also used the opportunity to reaffirm the administration’s commitment to national development under the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Tinubu.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda remains a pathway for inclusive progress, and we are committed to creating a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all,” he assured.
The minister concluded by wishing all Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration while extending warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.
