Liverpool and Portugal forward, Diogo Jota, has died in a tragic car crash in Spain, alongside his brother, Andre. He was 28.

The devastating incident occurred on the A-52 motorway near Palacios de Sanabria in the province of Zamora, Spain. Spanish sports newspaper MARCA confirmed that Jota and his brother both died at the scene.

Liverpool Football Club has expressed deep sorrow over the heartbreaking loss, describing the moment as unimaginable.

“Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota,” the club said in a statement.
“The club have been informed the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre. Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, teammates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss. We will continue to provide them with our full support.”

Born in Porto, Portugal, Jota quickly rose to become one of the most admired attacking talents in Europe. His energy, precision, and versatility made him a fan favourite at Liverpool and an important figure for the Portuguese national team.

The news has sent shockwaves across the football world, with tributes pouring in from fans, teammates, and football associations across the globe.

His sudden passing, alongside his brother, has left their family, friends, and supporters heartbroken.

Further details surrounding the crash are still being awaited as authorities continue investigations.
