The Jigawa State Government has announced that all public and private schools across the state will resume for the third term of the 2024/2025 academic session on Monday, April 14.

This was made known by the Commissioner for Basic Education, Dr. Lawan Danzomo, during a press conference held on Saturday in Dutse, the state capital.

According to Danzomo, boarding students are expected to return to their respective schools on Sunday, while day students are to resume on Monday.

“The resumption marks the beginning of the final term of the academic session. Students are expected to make the most of this period to prepare for their final exams,” he stated.

Danzomo emphasized the government’s readiness to ensure a smooth academic calendar, adding that “we have provided all the necessary teaching aids that will facilitate effective teaching and learning in schools.”

He urged parents and guardians to ensure that their wards return to school promptly, stressing that timely resumption would allow students to settle quickly into academic activities.

“Parents and guardians are encouraged to support their children by ensuring they attend school regularly and punctually. This will enable students to maximise the teaching and learning process,” he added.

The Commissioner also directed all teachers to be present in school from day one to ensure lessons commence immediately.

“We have posted our staff to monitor the resumption and commencement of lessons in schools across the state,” he noted, adding that the monitoring exercise is to ensure academic activities kick off without delay.

Danzomo expressed optimism that with all logistics in place, the third term will be productive and impactful. “This will likely have a positive impact on students’ academic performance,” he concluded.
