The Lagos State Taskforce has launched a fresh enforcement operation against commercial motorcycle operators and traffic offenders along the Lagos Calabar Coastal Road, impounding more than 50 motorcycles and arresting 10 vehicles for various traffic violations.
The clampdown was made public on Sunday through videos shared on X by the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu, Jubril Gawat.
The footage showed taskforce operatives enforcing restrictions on commercial motorcycles, arresting motorists driving against traffic, and dismantling shanties and makeshift structures erected along the corridor.
According to information accompanying the videos, the operation covered enforcement of the Okada ban on highways, one way driving violations, and the removal of illegal roadside structures obstructing movement and infrastructure within the coastal road axis. Several motorcycles were seized during the exercise, including a dispatch bike.

“Over 50 Okadas confiscated for riding on highways under Lagos State law. Ten vehicles arrested to be charged to court for driving against traffic. Enforcement continues,” the post read.
The renewed operation aligns with ongoing environmental and traffic control measures earlier announced by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab. In November 2025, Wahab had confirmed sustained clearance exercises along parts of the coastal corridor.
“Clearance operations are currently ongoing at Lakowe. The team is on ground removing illegal shanties, makeshift structures and roadside trading points obstructing drainage and pedestrian movement.”
“Enforcement is also being carried out on street traders and environmental sanitation offenders within the corridor,” Wahab had stated on his official X handle.
