Liverpool and Portugal forward, Diogo José Teixeira da Silva, popularly known as Diogo Jota, has died following a fatal car crash in Spain.
The tragic incident occurred on the A-52 motorway, at kilometre 65, near Palacios de Sanabria, in the province of Zamora.
Jota, aged 28, was confirmed dead at the scene of the accident, according to reports from Spanish sports newspaper MARCA.
Born on December 4, 1996, in Porto, Portugal, Jota rose to prominence for his sharp attacking skills and versatility on the pitch. He became a key figure for Liverpool FC and the Portuguese national team, earning admiration for his relentless work rate and goal-scoring ability.
