The National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to forgive Fuji music legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as Kwam 1, over alleged breaches of aviation regulations that led to his suspension from flying.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had accused the 68-year-old musician of bringing alcohol on board ValueJet Airlines’ morning service (Flight VK 201) to Lagos from Abuja, an act prohibited on domestic flights. The alleged incident reportedly led to an altercation with a flight attendant.

Following the development, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, placed Kwam 1 on a six-month no-fly list covering both domestic and international flights, pending the outcome of investigations.

Reacting in a statement posted on Instagram on Monday, MC Oluomo pleaded with Tinubu, the NCAA, and the Aviation Minister to show mercy.

He wrote, “To His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers of Nigeria (NURTW), humbly and fervently appeal to you to exercise mercy and forgiveness towards Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1). Like a prodigal son, K1 has acknowledged his mistakes, is sincerely apologetic, and is willing to make amends.”

MC Oluomo further urged the authorities to temper justice with mercy for Kwam 1 and the pilot involved in the case, Oluranti Ogoyi, saying the incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport’s local wing in Abuja should be resolved amicably.
