Host nation Morocco secured a place in the semifinals of the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations on Friday after a clinical 2–0 victory over Cameroon at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.
Brahim Diaz opened the scoring in the first half, continuing his impressive run at the tournament, while Ismael Saibari sealed the win with a second goal after the break. Diaz’s strike in the 26th minute marked his fifth consecutive scoring appearance in the competition.
Morocco dominated early and capitalized on their opportunities, while Cameroon struggled to break down the disciplined Atlas Lions defence.
The Indomitable Lions appealed for a penalty in the second half following a challenge on Bryan Mbeumo, but the referee waved play on.
Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou remained largely untroubled as Cameroon failed to register a single shot on target throughout the match.
With the win, Morocco will now face the winner of Saturday’s quarterfinal clash between Nigeria and Algeria in the semifinals scheduled for Wednesday in Rabat.
Earlier on Friday, Senegal advanced after a narrow 1–0 victory over Mali, while Egypt prepares to face Ivory Coast in another quarterfinal.
