Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has reassured all qualified farmers in Ogun State who participated in his Mega Farmers Empowerment Programme that they will receive the N100,000 financial grant promised to them.

This assurance follows a wave of complaints and unified petitions by some farmers alleging non-payment of the empowerment grant.

According to the senator, over 85% of the eligible farmers have already received their funds. He emphasized that the remaining beneficiaries will be paid once issues with their bank account details are resolved.

Speaking through his media adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, on Sunday, May 11, 2025, Senator Adeola stated: “All genuine beneficiaries went through proper screening and certification processes before being approved,”

The process included vetting by their associations, verification of phone numbers, bank account details, and a mandatory three-day training. Only those listed in the official programme brochure as verified participants are eligible for the grant.”

He clarified that some farmers who attended the empowerment event did not complete the required processes but were still given farm inputs out of magnanimity.

However, he noted, “These individuals are not entitled to the N100,000 financial grant since they were not registered or screened as part of the official empowerment.”

The senator noted that the payments were being made in collaboration with a federal government implementing agency and assured that every qualified and verified farmer would be paid soon.

“We are looking into this issue holistically with the federal agency handling the disbursements. Those with minor account errors will be paid in a few days after rectification. We are committed to ensuring every legitimate farmer gets what they are due,” Senator Adeola added.
