The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested popular Lagos socialite and nightclub owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, better known as Pretty Mike, alongside former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tuoyo Ideh, and over 100 other guests during a midnight raid on Proxy Nightclub, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, cartons of banned substances, including Loud and laughing gas, were recovered from the club during the operation conducted in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, 2025.

Babafemi said the operatives acted on credible intelligence and infiltrated the venue around 11pm on Saturday before swooping in at about 3am on Sunday.

The statement read, “In Lagos, NDLEA operatives in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, raided Proxy Nightclub at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, where a drug party was going on. Over 100 suspects, including the owner of the club, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, alias Pretty Mike, were arrested and taken into custody for screening. Cartons of illicit substances, including Loud and laughing gas, were recovered from suspects at the party and the club’s store.”

“The raid followed intelligence about the drug party. NDLEA operatives who were embedded in the party between 11pm on Saturday, 25th October, disrupted the gathering at 3am on Sunday based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs),” the statement added.

Reacting to his arrest, Tuoyo took to Instagram on Sunday to lament his ordeal, saying he was wrongly detained despite committing no offence.

He wrote, “I have been arrested by the NDLEA from a nightclub in Lagos for basically doing nothing at all since around 4am. They made us sit down like criminals. We are over 150 people here up till now that were carried to NDLEA headquarters, Ikoyi. We didn’t commit any crime. They came with guns inside the club and told everyone to lie down.”

Efforts to reach Pretty Mike for comments proved unsuccessful as calls and messages sent to him were not answered at the time of filing this report.

Meanwhile, NDLEA said it has also intercepted 70 parcels of cocaine weighing 3.6 kilograms concealed in cocoa butter body cream containers bound for London at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

The cargo agent, identified as Lawal Mustapha Olakunle, was arrested, while further investigations led to the arrest of two other suspects: a female healthcare worker, Ogunmuyide Taiwo Deborah, and the Chief Executive Officer of a travel agency, Mutiu Adebayo Adebiyi.

The statement added that other seizures were made across Kwara, Taraba, Kogi, Lagos, Kaduna, Ondo, Anambra, and Zamfara States, with several suspects arrested in connection with drug trafficking and related offences.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd), commended the operatives for their commitment and charged them to sustain the momentum in the agency’s ongoing War Against Drug Abuse (WADA).

“I commend the officers and men of all commands for the arrests and seizures. They should continue with the balanced approach to our drug control efforts across the country,” Marwa said.
