The Federal Government has fulfilled its pledge to reward the Super Eagles for their remarkable performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire, allocating housing units and plots of land to the players.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that the players, who finished as runners-up after a 2–1 loss to hosts Côte d’Ivoire in the final, received official certificates for their new properties from President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Tribune Online reports that this gesture forms part of the government’s commitment to celebrating excellence in sports and supporting athletes representing Nigeria internationally.
In addition to the housing and land awards, the Super Eagles players were also conferred with the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).
Some of the beneficiaries include Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Paul Onuachu, Calvin Bassey, and Alex Iwobi.
The certificates were officially presented to the players at their training camp in Fez, Morocco, on Monday.
