Nottingham Forest have sacked their manager, Ange Postecoglou, following a run of eight matches without a single victory in all competitions.

The English Premier League club announced his dismissal in a brief statement shared on its official X handle and website on Saturday.

The statement read, “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. The Club will make no further comment at this time.”

Postecoglou’s fate was sealed shortly after Forest suffered a 3–0 home defeat to Chelsea, extending their winless streak and leaving the team hovering near the relegation zone.

The Greek-Australian tactician’s short reign produced no wins — with six losses and two draws — including a dramatic Carabao Cup exit to Swansea City where Forest squandered a 2–1 lead in stoppage time to lose 3–2.

Their only points came from hard-fought draws against Burnley in the Premier League and Real Betis in the Europa League.

Just two weeks ago, the former Tottenham and Celtic boss had dismissed pressure talks, insisting he remained focused on turning things around. That confidence, however, failed to translate into results on the pitch.

Postecoglou’s time at Forest lasted only 39 days, making it his second Premier League dismissal in four months. He was previously sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in June, just weeks after guiding the club to its first European trophy in 17 years — a 1–0 victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao.

Forest are currently 17th in the Premier League table with only five points from eight games, having managed just one win, two draws, and five defeats this season.

As of press time, the club has not named an interim replacement, but sources say discussions are ongoing to appoint a new manager before their next league fixture.
