Ogun State House of Assembly (OGHA) has commended the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development for its proactive women empowerment initiatives and close collaboration with the Assembly in addressing issues affecting women and vulnerable groups across the State.
The commendation came as the Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, presented the Ministry’s 2026 budget proposals before members of the State House of Assembly.
During her presentation, Hon. Adeleye highlighted plans to standardise the State Women Empowerment Scheme (OKOWOODAPO) through bi-annual general training and in-house capacity building programmes for officers coordinating the scheme across the State.
She also noted that the Ministry would launch aggressive enlightenment campaigns targeting women affinity groups, focusing on business skills acquisition to enhance economic independence.
Hon. Adeleye further outlined proposed legacy projects for the next fiscal year, including the construction of a modern Women Development Centre at Kobape and the renovation of the Fatty Lams Recreational Centre for Persons Living with Disabilities at Oke-Ilewo.
In addition to Women Affairs, other Ministries that presented their 2026 budget proposals before the Committee on Finance and Appropriations, chaired by Hon. Musefiu Lamidi, included the Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, led by Commissioner Mrs. Funmi Efuwape, the Ministry of Environment, represented by Mr. Ola Oresanya, and the Ministry of Sports Development, led by Mr. Wasiu Isiaka.
Hon. Lamidi praised the Women Affairs Ministry for its initiatives and underscored the importance of budget proposals that directly impact the welfare of women, children, and persons with disabilities.
He encouraged all Ministries to ensure their 2026 budgets are designed to deliver tangible benefits to the people of Ogun State.
